Keeping your roof in good shape need not be such a complicated task. While roofs do require periodic maintenance from an experienced roofing company, there are some things that you can do yourself to ensure that they last you a long time. In today’s post, your friends over at Century Roofing and Siding Ltd. shares three excellent tips to help you take better care of your roof.
1. Clean Your Gutters
Cleaning your gutters on a regular basis can do wonders for your roofing system. By not allowing things like leaves, twigs and other debris to build up in your gutters, you can greatly reduce clogging problems. When your gutters become clogged, the water can build up and seep into unwanted places, your roof and the interior of your home included.
2. Check Your Attic and Ceilings for Leaks
Another good tip to help keep your roofing system healthy is by inspecting your attic and ceilings for any signs of leaking. Catching minor leaks become they become a major problem can ward off a costly and premature roof replacement.
3. Trim Overhanging Branches
Trees are great! They make your property look more inviting and can provide some extra shade. But during severe weather events, branches that are too close to your home can be blown away and land on your roof causing damage. To prevent this from happening, be sure to trim overhanging branches regularly.
